Inaugural BMW Charity Pro-AM Celebrity Softball Game.

Greenville, S.C. Some of the biggest celebrity names competing in the BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by SYNNEX Corporation tournament will trade in their golf clubs for softball bats on Thursday, May 17, 7:30 p.m. at Fluor Field for the inaugural All-Star Celebrity Softball Game. Celebrity co-captains Larry the Cable Guy and John O’Hurley will take on fellow co-captains Alfonso Riberio and Rob Riggle, and their respective teams of athletes, actors and entertainers.

“This is the first year for The All-Star Celebrity Softball Game, and we feel this is a great way to extend the reach and impact of the Tournament beyond the golf course,” said Steve Sellery, Executive Director, BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by SYNNEX Corporation. “We are proud to be partnering with The Greenville Drive and Fluor Field to stage this event at such a remarkable and revered venue, and trust that this will become an annual tradition the community and our visiting celebrities will look forward to each year.”

Tickets can be purchased at the Box Office or online, each ticket will grant access to both the Greenville Drive game and the Celebrity Softball game.

“We are excited to partner with the BMW Charity Pro-Am, bringing this unique celebrity softball game to Fluor Field,” said Craig Brown, Owner/President, The Greenville Drive. “The Greenville Drive and Fluor Field are all about partnering with like-minded organizations that can create special experiences. The addition of the All-Star Celebrity Softball Game to the week’s-worth of events during the tournament is what makes this event highly desirable to fans, attendees and celebrities alike.”

The following evening, Friday, May 18 from 7 to 10 p.m., Phil Vassar, who landed ten #1 songs on Billboard’s Hot Country chart as an artist and songwriter, will bring his music to the masses at the TD Stage at the Peace Center Amphitheater during The Downtown Concert.

Best known for performing hits including “Just Another Day in Paradise” and “Carlene”, Vassar also achieved remarkable success penning songs for other artists — including co-writing Tim McGraw’s “My Next Thirty Years”, Jodee Messina’s “Bye Bye” and “Right on the Money” by Alan Jackson.

“Phil Vassar is going to put on a great show, performing songs the crowd will love,” said Max Metcalf, Secretary/Treasurer, BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by SYNNEX Corporation. “The concert is another phenomenal event held during tournament week that also sets the stage for the final two rounds of the Pro-Am and Sunday’s celebration of a new tournament champion.”

Vassar’s performance is part of a grand evening featuring a menu by Larkin’s on the River and beverages. Tickets to the exclusive event ($250) may be purchased through South Carolina Charities Director of Sales Linda Johnson (864.517.2383; ljohnson@sccharities.org).

Tournament week also includes Executive Women’s Day presented by Spartanburg Regional Healthcare Systems on Monday, May 14, from 8:30 to 3 p.m. at Furman University’s Melvin and Dollie Younts Conference Center. The event will include a panel discussion for women, by women. Keynote speaker for the event will be Lisa Murray, Octagon Worldwide Executive Vice President and Global Chief Marketing Officer. Tickets for that event are also available through Linda Johnson.
