HIGH PRECISION.

Mechanical production.

Mechanical production of core engine components is one of the main areas at the Steyr plant. Employees in this area are responsible for manufacturing core engine parts, which are then fitted at other BMW Group plants.

High standards.

We set high standards from power to dynamic performance to comfort and smoothness. That is why BMW Group Plant Steyr produces its own core parts, such as crankcases, housings for the latest-generation of electric drive trains, crankshafts, cylinder heads and connecting rods – because these contain the expertise that guarantees premium quality. Ongoing quality controls and spot-checks in the precision measurement lab underpin our high quality standards. Machining accuracy can now be measured to a thousandth of a millimetre (µ: 0.001mm). For comparison, a human hair has a diameter of 0.05 mm.

Humans and machines.

Precision is assured by state-of-the-art machines and systems supervised by skilled operatives.
