THINK TANK FOR A NEW ERA.

BMW Group Lightweight and Engineering Center.

Innovative lightweight construction is considered one of the key technologies in the global automotive industry. In light of the increasingly strict carbon emission regulations and new drive concepts, it is a major element in defining a car manufacturer’s competitiveness within a continuously changing industry.

Our site is already considered a pioneer in this field. We produce key components for both the revolutionary BMW i models and the brand’s flagship, the new BMW 7 Series.

Building the BMW Group’s new Lightweight and Engineering Center at our site in Landshut is the next logical step. From late 2016 on, about 160 engineers will join hands and do research into innovative materials, mixed-material concepts and production procedures for future vehicle generations at this automotive think tank. This facility will allow us to continue to set trends for the entire industry here in Landshut. And our site will receive a new center – in both technical and visual terms.
