BMW i3 for driving school.

BMW Group Plant Leipzig presents an electric BMW i3 to first electric driving school in the German state of Thuringia.

On 7 January BMW Group Plant Leipzig handed a BMW i3 over to a driving school in Gera – one the first in the country to prepare upcoming drivers for their licences in electric cars.

BMW Sales Eastern Germany  and BMW Autohaus Cloppenburg in the town of Gera have presented an all-electric BMW i3 to the first electric driving school in the German state of Thuringia. The Fischer driving school in Gera is one of the first in the country to prepare upcoming drivers for their driving test in electric cars. Handing the vehicle over at BMW Group Plant Leipzig, Plant Director Hans-Peter Kemser said: “We manufacture almost 700 BMW i3 vehicles a week for the world market and are particularly delighted to see electric cars being used in more and more driving schools.”

Uwe Bierey, Regional Manager of BMW Group Sales Thuringia , sees two reasons to be pleased: “Electric cars are ideal for driving schools. Not only are they kinder to the environment but they are also introducing novice drivers to future mobility early on.”

Sustainability was also the driver behind the decision of driving school owner Mike Fischer: “In this age of climate change, lasting reductions in CO2 emissions are becoming more and more important. That’s why we are planning to set up a driving school centre with a photovoltaic system and charging points for the whole of Gera.”
