San Luis Potosi; April 23rd, 2018. BMW Group delivered 327 filters through the social responsibility campaign Care4Water to six communities in the municipality of Villa de Reyes, benefiting around 2,000 people and allowing clean water supply at the La Presita primary school in the same location.

The initiative was started by BMW Financial Services in 2016 favoring more than 5,000 people already who previously did not have access to drinking water. BMW Group Plant San Luis Potosi continues with the activities to improve the conditions of society in the vicinity of the plant, with the aim of promoting health, education and improving the economic situation among the inhabitants of the region.

The activities in Villa de Reyes began in the town of Puente de Tierra in June 2016 where 100 filters were donated. Later in October of that same year, the town of Bledos received 150 filters from the company. Continuing with the long-term activities, in April 2017 the Presa El Organito and Tanque El Chayote communities were benefited with 87 filters, in addition to the installation to obtain drinking water in a kindergarten and primary school at the neighboring town of Puente de Tierra.

On this occasion, the communities of La Presita, Los Pocitos, Providencia, Lagunita de Jasso, Los Macheros and La Soledad received 327 filters; which have a beneficial impact on 325 families. Additionally, BMW Group Plant San Luis Potosi provided the infrastructure so that a primary school in La Presita also has the vital fluid that will improve the quality life among students.

“We seek to provide long-term benefits to the community. With initiatives such as this one we want to improve the health, education and economic conditions of our neighborhood.” mentioned Hermann Bohrer, President and CEO of BMW Group Plant San Luis Potosi.

The commitment to the community is an integral part of the identity of the BMW Group Plant San Luis Potosi. The initiative through Care4Water estimates that each water filter provides around 3,120 liters annually. In this way it seeks to reduce the cases of diseases by drinking unclean water, at the same time that the student attendance increases since children no longer miss days of school, and also the costs of obtaining pure water for human consumption are reduced among the families.
