Page Overview: Driveshafts

The driveshaft transmits the power of the engine and transmission to the drive wheels via the axle transmissions. The high rigidity and smoothness as well as the ideal vibration behavior of the driveshafts are crucial prerequisites for the unrivalled quality of the drivetrain and chassis of BMW Group vehicles.

Our plant is the only production site for driveshafts in the BMW Group’s global production network. We cooperate closely with the colleagues in drivetrain and chassis development. This way, we can integrate new materials, constructive solutions, lightweight construction concepts and joining technologies in future vehicle concepts. The high-performance BMW M4, for instance, is fitted with an innovative carbon driveshaft, which ensures greater smoothness and lower weight.
